“Oh, you’re from Iowa?”
People usually say it with a smirk, picturing nothing but endless cornfields stretching to the horizon and gravel roads disappearing into the fog. And to be fair, that part isn’t wrong. Iowa mornings often begin with the hum of tractors, the scent of fresh earth, and golden fields swaying under wide Midwestern skies.
But that’s only half the story.
“No, I’m from Iowa.”
The Iowa where autumn paints the cliffs in fiery shades at Maquoketa Caves State Park.
The Iowa where the rolling ridges of the Loess Hills glow under breathtaking sunsets.
The Iowa where you can stand above the Mississippi River at Pikes Peak State Park and watch the world slow down for a moment.
It’s quiet. It’s simple. It’s beautiful in ways you don’t expect.
Because Iowa isn’t just a place you drive through—
it’s a place you discover. 🌽✨

The lesson is clear: Sweden got rich under capitalism, then spent decades redistributing that wealth under socialism. When the wealth ran low, they returned to market reforms.

But the hero of Sweden's rise, Johan August Gripenstedt, the finance minister who championed free trade and economic liberalization in the 1860s, has been erased. Why? Because acknowledging him means admitting that Sweden's success came from capitalism, not socialism.

History gets rewritten by those who control the narrative. Sweden's prosperity was built on liberal economics. That's the inconvenient truth.

Ludwig von Mises, one of the 20th century’s foremost champions of free markets, saw clearly that socialism isn’t merely inefficient—it’s inherently destructive. Decades of failed central planning have made his case undeniable.

Socialism in theory is great, everyone has what they need to survive and everyone is happy. In practice it never works that way because it relies on the top few having so much authority they can dictate the lives of everyone else. The political class becomes wealthy while the working class becomes impoverished.
