Please visit the new AACLB exhibit that will open on First Friday, March 6th, with a special opening reception on Sunday, March 8th, from 1:30 to 3:00 PM. The exhibit will remain on view through March 28th.
The exhibit honors Doris Topsy-Elvord, the first Black woman to serve on the Long Beach Ciry Council and the Harbor Commission. It also recognizes the three Black women who followed in her footsteps on the City Council. Those being Laura Richardson, Dr. Joni Rick’s-Oddie, and Tunua Thrash-Ntuk. Whose leadership continues the legacy of doors opened by Doris Topsy-Elvord

This is a reminder of our upcoming February General Meeting which is our annual Black History Month Panel on Black Excellence in Education. The discussion will examine the state of education in the Greater Long Beach Black community, including pathways from K–12 through higher education.

- Legacy Unity & Love: Black Future Celebration
- Date/Time: Saturday, Feb 14 from 2 pm to 7 pm PST
- Location: Promenade Long Beach, CA (The Promenade N Between E 3rd St. & E 4th St.)

Join us along with Dreamz Into Goals for the 2nd Annual Legacy & Unity: Black Future Celebration, a free, outdoor festival honoring African American history, culture, and achievements. This vibrant, family-friendly activation features a Black-owned vendor marketplace, live performances, cultural exhibits, wellness resources, educational programming, and hands-on activities for all ages creating a dynamic space to celebrate community, creativity, and connection during the DTLB Art + Design Walk.
