Did you know that a u-lock is the most secure way to lock your bicycle? There is still time to register your bike with UPD to receive a free bike lock! CSULB students can register their bikes at any time by filling out the registration form. July 2026 Monthly Activity Summary 🚨

- Calls for Service: All incidents that our officers are assigned to assist, handle, or resolve.

- Arrests: Individuals taken into custody.

- CAST Service Episodes: Services provided by CAST, our mobile mental health team, to support students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community. Service episodes include crisis calls, intensive case management, and welfare checks.

- Campus Events, Trainings, and Presentations: Safety trainings, presentations, and outreach events provided to the campus.

Happy first day of classes! Don't forget to take a moment to save important numbers in your phone like the University Police non-emergency line (562.985.4101) which is available 24/7.

If you're not sure if something is an emergency, you can 911 or the non-emergency line and a dispatcher will guide you. If you’re unable to make a call, you can also text 911 in an emergency.

Reminder: Traffic will be heavily impacted next week! Temporary route changes will be in effect for the first two weeks of classes, so be sure to plan ahead and build a commute plan that works best for you. 🚗

Updated routes:

Eastbound Beach Dr. #1 lane will be dedicated for left turns onto northbound Determination Way.

Access to Brotman Dr. will be unavailable from Beach Drive. Lots E1 and E2 will be accessible from Merriam Way.

Classes officially start next week so don't forget to register your bike to receive a free bike lock! UPD will have a table during move-in day tomorrow and Friday to help students register their bike. 🚲

- August 20 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM
at Parkside and Hillside

- August 21 from 8:30 - 11:30 AM
at Parkside and Beachside

The Bike U-Lock program is open to all currently enrolled CSULB students, and students can register their bike any time by filling out the registration form. https://www.csulb.edu/university-police/bike-u-lock-program

On Friday, August 7, 2026, the University Police Department will conduct a training exercise simulating an active shooter incident between 6:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. A test of the BeachALERT Emergency Notification System will also be sent as part of this exercise. No action will need to be taken by recipients of these test alerts.

Please take a moment to ensure that your contact information is up to date by logging into your Student Center or Employee Center account in the CSULB Single-Sign-On (SSO).
