September 2026 Monthly Activity Summary 🚨

- Calls for Service: All incidents that our officers are assigned to assist, handle, or resolve.

- Arrests: Individuals taken into custody.

- CAST Service Episodes: Services provided by CAST, our mobile mental health team, to support students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community. Service episodes include crisis calls, intensive case management, and welfare checks.

- Campus Events, Trainings, and Presentations: Safety trainings, presentations, and outreach events provided to the campus.

Get ready to SHAKEOUT! The Great Shakeout state-wide earthquake drill is happening next Thursday, October 15, 2026. This annual drill is an opportunity to assess your surroundings - whether on campus or off - and identify safe places in advance where you can “DROP, COVER, and HOLD ON” in the event of an earthquake.

Next Thursday morning at approximately 9:00 AM, all members of the campus community will receive a test message from our BeachALERT emergency notification system to their registered cell phone and campus email account. Please take a moment to confirm that your contact information is up to date by logging into your Student Center or Employee Center account in the CSULB Single Sign-On (SSO).

Our officers will be participating in the for Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Pink Patch Project is a public awareness campaign to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer, so throughout the month, you will see our officers wearing pink patches on their uniform to show their support for the cause.

Our department will be selling pink patches and pink ribbon pins at our Community Engagement Office (located next to Amazon @ the Beach). Funds raised will benefit cityofhope and support breast cancer research!

Please join us in welcoming Officer Hall to the CSULB Police Department! Officer Hall joins our department with more than 28 years of experience with the Orange County Sheriff’s department. He has experience in patrol operations, served as a Field Training Officer (FTO), and has participated in the Critical Incident Response Team. Officer Hall will be a great asset to the CSULB Police Department, and we are excited to have him on our team!

UPD had the opportunity to attend the Criminal Justice Student Association’s first general meeting! The Canine Detection Team, Officer Afusia, and CSO Ocampo were there to speak about the University Police Department and the programs available to students. Students were also given the opportunity to ask questions about different career paths in law enforcement.

University Police will be hosting R.A.D women’s self-defense training in November! This course will teach realistic self-defense techniques and tactics and will culminate in a full defense simulation. Sign up now!

Last Friday, Officer Afusia and one of our UPD interns participated in the Los Angeles 9/11 Day Meal Pack event by volunteering to help with set up. This event, which took place across the country, helped pack millions of meals for families in need and our department was honored to take part in the meaningful event!
