The Long Beach Board of Aldermen recently voted to update the deadline for submitting items to be placed on an upcoming Board meeting agenda.

Effective immediately, all agenda items must be submitted to the City Clerk by 12:00 PM on the Thursday prior to the meeting.

The City of Long Beach and the Long Beach Board of Aldermen recognize September as Su***de Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness, encouraging conversations, and reminding those who may be struggling that help and hope are available.

In recognition of Su***de Prevention Month, the Gateway Tower and surrounding area are shining teal to help bring awareness to su***de prevention throughout our community.

As you see the teal lights this month, let them serve as a reminder to check in on your friends, family members, neighbors, and coworkers. Sometimes, a conversation can make a difference.

Board of Aldermen Meeting Recap | September 1, 2026

Here are highlights of the items that received action during the September 1st meeting of the Long Beach Board of Aldermen:

Truckin’ the South
Approved Truckin’ the South at the Harper McCaughan Town Green April 3rd.

Return-to-Work Policy
Created a committee to develop a return-to-work policy in accordance with House Bill 4073.

Drainage Exemption
Granted a drainage exemption for Trinity Pentecostal Tabernacle.

Industrial Park Annexation
Approved a proposed stipulation reducing the Long Beach Industrial Park annexation area. Kux Road and the surrounding area will no longer be included.

Tree-Removal Permit Appeal
Denied the tree-removal permit appeal for Harbor Watch.

Board Agenda Deadline
Changed the deadline for submitting items for the Board of Aldermen agenda to noon on the Thursday before the next regularly scheduled meeting.

Opioid Settlement Funds
Accepted more than $7,000 in opioid settlement funds.
