📚 Celebrating Khmer Literacy & Youth Voices! 🇰🇭

The Khmer Parents Association (KPA) and United Cambodian Community (UCC) are proud to support a Khmer Literacy Program that gives Khmer American youth an opportunity to read, write, create, and connect with their cultural heritage.

Through storytelling and Khmer writing, our young people are learning that their language and stories matter. They are building confidence while preserving family memories, cultural traditions, and community history for future generations.

A special thank you to the Port of Long Beach (POLB) for supporting this important work and investing in our youth. Your partnership helps create opportunities for young Cambodian Americans to find their voice, celebrate their identity, and become the storytellers of our future.

Our youth have stories to tell. Our language has a future. Our community is stronger when we create together.

This is your last week to submit your artwork to be displayed at The Ice House Art Complex.
Exhibition Theme: Zombie

Working off of Rumduol 2025, our Cambodian American community accomplishments and reflections, along with our diversity of community in southern California. This exhibition uses the concept of a zombie as a metaphor for the ways political unrest, social division, war and harmful narratives can influence an consume our sense of self. Artists are invited to explore themes of identity, fear, conformity, resilience and resistance, reflecting on what it means to reclaim oneself from forces that seek to define or control us.

CalFresh Work Requirements Fact Sheet

As of June 1, 2026, CalFresh recipients may have to work or participate in a community engagement activity to qualify for CalFresh, if they are between the ages of 18 and 64 and do not have a disability. Unless recipients are excused from the work requirements, they are limited to 3 months of CalFresh every 36 months (3 years). To continue receiving CalFresh, they will need to meet the CalFresh work requirements.

As part of the California Protecting Immigrant Families coalition, The Children’s Partnership, California Immigrant Policy Center, Visión y Compromiso, Asian Resources, Inc., and California Immigration Project have created a fact sheet to help families understand what is required of them and how to meet those requirements.
