The bill would ban the use of glyphosate-containing herbicide and pesticide products (like Roundup) on state property including parks, campgrounds, and state colleges and universities as of December 31, 2021.
It received bi-partisan support, passing the state Senate 45-15 and Assembly 101-41.
We’re extremely grateful to both Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal () of the Upper West Side district of Manhattan and State Senator Jose Serrano () of the 29th state district (representing The Bronx, Roosevelt Island, El Barrio, Yorkville, Central Park & UWS) for introducing the bill in their respected legislative branch.
It’s been reported by The Bronx Daily that New York City’s Dpt. of Parks & Recreation dumped more than 500 gallons of glyphosate on +28,000 acres of city parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, beaches, parkways, etc. to merily control the growth of weeds. Across the state, more than 50,000 gallons of liquid herbicide containing glyphosate were applied in public spaces.
Glyphosate was labeled a known carcinogen in 2015 by The World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer.
Our Founder, , refers to glyphosate as “public enemy number one” for its ability to disrupt the gut lining in human beings, degenerating our microbiomes to not only be susceptible to various cancers, gut issues, and mental health ailments - but also for disrupting our body’s ability to break down protein in food.
If you’re curious as to what your state is doing about glyphosate, we strongly encourage you to do some research and sign up for the upcoming webinar on August 11th at 12:30pst on How to Ban Glyphosate In Your City including , Founder, Kim Konte, Andrea and Ryan Schrock - a couple on a mission to ban glyphosate in their community, and Mayor Ashley Stolzmann from Louisville Colorado who worked to bring the policy online.
They did it and so can you!
