Scholarship night for OBSD seniors. OBEF is not a traditional scholarship organization, but we have a number of people who have entrusted us to provide both need and merit based awards to college bound seniors.

Here is a great example of OBEF grants doing big things. Students may not be able to afford instrument rentals, so the school has many “loaners” to help fill the need. In our last grant cycle, we provided funding to refurbish all these instruments to help local students fulfill their dream of performing. These pictures were taken prior to refurbishing.

OBEF board members recently had the opportunity to tour the newly remodeled science classrooms at Ilwaco High School. Our $100,000 grant allowed OBSD to secure over $700,000 to completely renovate and update 4 classrooms.

Happy New Year from OBEF. In case you wondered what OBEF did in 2018 for the teachers of Ocean Beach School District: We had 31 grant requests for a total of $89,000. We granted money for musical instruments, a sound system for the hilltop auditorium, the Shakespeare experience, Ready! for kindergarten program, books, and so many other worthwhile programs.

Thank you to our wonderful peninsula community for supporting OBEF throughout the years. We will continue to be good stewards of the money we have been entrusted with to enhance the education of our local students.

Please support the Boys and Girls club of the Long Beach Peninsula this weekend. They have taken over the OBEF annual auction as their yearly fundraiser. This awesome group deserves the same support our group has enjoyed from this community thru the years.

Dear Foundation supporters: The OBEF board of directors has decided to forgo our annual dinner auction this year, and for the foreseeable future. We have handed the reins over to the Boys and Girls Club of the Long Beach Peninsula, and we encourage you to support them with the same enthusiasm you have shown us for the last 25+ years. The students of OBSD and the directors of the OBEF thank you for your past and future support.
