Today, we're celebrating Women's Equality Day. We're honoring the generations of women who fought for the right to vote and the women in our union still fighting for equity today.

In 1920, the 19th Amendment won women that right. Educators have been fighting to make it mean something ever since, in our classrooms, our locals, and at the bargaining table.

Tag a woman in your school who inspires you.

"In 2012, our students had endured years of catastrophic budget cuts caused by the recession and learned in classrooms packed tighter than they should ever be. California voters asked the wealthiest 2% to pay a little more to help our schools recover. It worked," says Starr Avila.

Californians, then, voted again to protect this funding that feeds millions of our students and provides healthcare coverage for families through Medi-Cal.
