General information
Superstorm Sandy has left many Long Beach families struggling to overcome the physical devastation and loss that resulted from one of the worst storms in history. Almost no one on the barrier beach island escaped untouched by the storm. What is not so easily seen, however, is the emotional distress and psychological damage that often follows a catastrophic event like Sandy. PROJECT HOPE offers free and confidential one-to-one and group counseling services for individuals impacted by Hurricane Sandy. Trained counselors are available to meet wherever it’s most convenient for you - in the home, place of work, community centers, schools or houses of worship - to help community members and businesses move forward with their recovery. For some people, all they need is someone who will listen; someone who can help them understand their reactions to the disaster and its aftermath. Others may benefit from added support, including referral to people and agencies that can provide additional disaster-related assistance. PROJECT HOPE Counselors provide crisis management strategies, stress reduction techniques, support services and referrals to additional resources.
