Youth Advocating Youth With Integrity And Purpose!

Established March 2004 by Mayor Loveridge and Riverside City Council, the Riverside Youth Council (RYC) serves as a means for youth to voice their opinions, develop their leadership skills, and participate in city governance. Since its creation, the RYC has worked extensively through various initiatives towards achieving the vision statement: Youth advocating youth with integrity and purpose; empowered with the voice to shape the future of Riverside.

The Riverside Youth Council will have their annual Youth Summit on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at California Baptist University. From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The participating teens will attend workshops and learn from the many speakers about entrepreneurship, college knowledge, community involvement, team building, and much more.⁣

NOMINATIONS FOR RIVERSIDE’S “25 MOST REMARKABLE TEENS” 2022 NOW OPEN

The Riverside Youth Council needs your help identifying the most remarkable teens in our community. Through schools, sports, church groups, social and youth clubs, we know Riverside has many extraordinary young people making a difference in our neighborhoods, so this is our time to give them the recognition they deserve.
To be nominated, a teen may excel in one or a combination of these areas: academics, visual & performing arts, athletics, community involvement, leadership, courage to overcome, or any other remarkable act. Nominees MUST be in grades 8 to 12 and LIVE in the city of Riverside.

All nominations will be reviewed and selected by the Riverside Youth Council on Monday, March 14, 2022, and the top 25 nominees will be announced via phone or email on Monday, March 28, 2022 thru Friday, April 1, 2022.
Nominations will be only be accepted through the online nomination form found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MRT2022. If you have a teen to nominate, submit your application now.

Riverside Youth Council’s vision is youth advocating for youth with integrity and purpose; empowered with the voice to shape the future Riverside. The Riverside Police Department in partnership with our Mayor’s Office team is now accepting applications for the 2021-22 Riverside Youth Council.

RYC’s mission is to provide Riverside youth with the opportunity to participate in city governance and share in the decision-making through a council intended for the purpose of addressing youth issues.

The Council consists of approximately 45 high school students. Students looking to increase civic engagement should apply!
