We hope everyone enjoys the weekend, but please take time to remember, honor, and say a prayer for all of the courageous men and women from all the military branches, who gave their lives in the service of our country, in order to protect and preserve our way of life. Memorial Day is about paying tribute to them and their memory, as well as remembering their families and what they have had to go through. Today is the time to appreciate all we have and to be proud of this amazing country we live in, because of the heroes who gave everything.

Thank you also to all of those currently serving in our Armed Forces and to all the veterans.

Have a safe holiday.

Yesterday evening, 5/14/2021, at approximately 9:30pm, officers took a report regarding someone attempting to impersonate an officer.

A resident on their way home, was stopped on Pleasant Grove Road just in off Schooley's, by an older red sedan with alternating flashing blue and red lights inside the vehicle. The resident pulled over, and the imposter pulled in behind them. The imposter shut the flashing lights off, at which time the resident drove away due to concerns about the authenticity of the stop.

As the resident drove away, the vehicle came up from behind and tailgated them before abruptly turning off onto Wehri Road.

Officers checked the area and put out a BOLO on the vehicle. The only information is an older red sedan with the flashing internal lights. A check was done confirming no officer conducted a stop. Officers are continuing to gather evidence and check local camera systems.

If you have any information or have video surveillance, please contact the police department immediately.

Washington Township Police drive black Chevrolet Tahoes, with a few Chevrolet Caprices still in rotation. The vehicles are well lit.
They will not turn off their lights after pulling someone over and will identify themselves upon approaching the vehicle. Our video equipment is running the entire time. If you are ever concerned or suspect an imposter, call 911 immediately. If you are getting stopped, put on your flashers and pull to a safe location.

We will not tolerate anyone attempting to do as this person has done. Please watch out for one another and contact the department with additional information. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.

It is with regret that the department has to announce that our K-9 Officer, Cliff, will be retiring on July 1st. Cliff has been in integral part of our department along with his handler, PO Mike Thompson. No worries, Cliff is still healthy and active, but has decided it is time to move on so he can enjoy his family and running around the yard, and leave the police work up to Mike.
We will miss you Cliff, thank you for your service to the department!
