REMINDER:

Residents living in "L" Project area, Converse Street between Route 5 and Laurel Street, trash collection will continue to begin at 5:30 AM to accommodate road work. Please have trash out the night before to avoid missing collection if you are on Wednesday's route.

From Tuesday, August 18 through Saturday, August 22, milling and paving operations are scheduled on Williams Street between Woolworth Street and Woodside Drive.

Williams Street will remain open to traffic throughout the work; however, daytime traffic will be reduced to one lane within the active work area. Police details will be present to assist with traffic control and maintain safe traffic flow.

Motorists should expect temporary delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes and use caution when traveling through the work zone.

Reminder - The next Future Building Use Task Force public forum will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Town Offices - Greenwood Center, 231 Maple Road at 7PM. Please join the task force in sharing your thoughts on the future of our buildings and public spaces and learn more about the current conditions of Old Town Hall, Town Hall and the Community House.

The Task Force also invites abutters, civic groups or organizations to reach out to [email protected] or fill out the comment form at the link below, to schedule additional public input opportunities as the work progresses.

Motorists should expect several road closures and traffic restrictions on Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18, due to upcoming construction work related to the L Project. The left-turn lane from the highway onto Forest Glen Road will be closed; southbound traffic will be detoured to Bliss Rd.

Converse Street will also be closed to eastbound traffic at Longmeadow Street, and the left-turn lane from Longmeadow Street onto Converse Street will be closed.

Converse Street between Dover Road and Longmeadow Street will be closed with through traffic limited to westbound travel.

Laurel Street will be closed between Harwich Road and Bliss Road.

Please follow posted detours and traffic-control devices, use caution, and allow extra travel time. Please seek alternate routes when possible.

Reminder, beginning tomorrow, Converse Street between Route 5 and Laurel Street will be closed Monday through Friday from 7am to 3pm to accommodate roadway construction for the "L" Project. This phase of work is expected to take roughly five weeks. Wednesday's trash route in this area will begin at 5:30 AM to collect before the road closure. Please have trash out the night before to avoid missing collection if you are on Wednesday's route.
