Have you met the newest watchful neighbor at 4th & Main?

Perched atop a steel pedestal, "Crow" by Otis Gallagher brings a bold, geometric take on one of nature's most intelligent birds to downtown Longmont. Crafted from Corten steel, the sculpture will gradually develop a rich, weathered patina, changing over time alongside the character of its surroundings.

As students return to school, we thought it fitting to highlight "First Teacher" by Ann La Rose, located behind the library on 4th and Emery.

This bronze sculpture was donated in memory of Nancy Nixon, whose contributions to Longmont’s cultural and educational community continue to be remembered. Installed in 2003, the piece honors her legacy and the important role educators and mentors play in shaping our community.

Wishing students, educators, and families a wonderful start to the school year.

Help shape Longmont's new flag!

Join the Art in Public Places (AIPP) selection panel this Saturday, Aug. 22 as they review submissions for the redesign of the official City of Longmont flag.

Saturday, August 22
Longmont Museum, 400 Quail Road
Doors open 8:15 am
Meeting begins 9 am
Concludes by 1 pm

The morning includes a project overview and panel review of submitted designs (9–11:30 am), followed by a short break and a public comment period where community members get up to 3 minutes each to share feedback with the panel.

"Airplay" by George Peters & Melanie Walker fills the space with vibrant colors, playful shapes, and movement. The colorful mobile and wall installations bring a lively touch to the entryway and hallways, creating a welcoming path throughout the building.

Located at 4th & Main, "Harmony" by Alexander Difiore is an interactive sculpture inspired by a prayer wheel. Give it a spin while setting an intention, releasing something that no longer serves you, or simply taking a moment to be present.

🎨 Shock Art 2026 is underway!

Take a stroll over to the corner of 17th Avenue and Deerwood Drive to see the progress on "Longmont Horizons" by artist Jon Fukuda. It's exciting to watch another utility box transform into a vibrant work of public art that adds color and creativity to our community.

A big thank you to Jon for putting in the work through these 100 degree days to help make Longmont a little more colorful.

These 90° days have us appreciating all the cool places around town. ☀️

If you're headed to Lanyon Park, don't miss NUHU by Tim Upham. Installed in 2007, the whimsical steel sculpture welcomes visitors into the park while creating the illusion that it continues beneath the ground.

While you're there, check out the park's new cooling amenities, including refreshing water misters. They're a perfect way to beat the summer heat.

Ever wonder how a sculpture like this comes together? Check out this cool installation video of "Ocotillo Bone Marrow" by Reven Swanson.

Inspired by the ocotillo cactus, the sculpture reflects how something that looks dry and lifeless can suddenly burst with new growth after rain. As you move around the two steel forms, they shift from feeling skeletal to alive and flowing like grass. Created through a direct steel carving process, the piece evolved naturally, with unexpected moments shaping the final work.

Community members came out to enjoy a little cloud cover and some ice cream this past Friday as we celebrated the completion of Osiris Rain's mural, Architecture of Time! 🎉🍦

This vibrant new work transforms the 5,000 sq. ft. parking structure attached to the Hotel Longmont at 3rd & Kimbark into a bold and colorful landmark. If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to stop by and experience this incredible piece in person!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate another exciting addition to Longmont's public art collection.
