Stage 1 (Mild) Water Shortage Declared
At its April 16th meeting, the Board of Directors declared a Stage 1 (Mild) Water Shortage Condition.
Under Stage 1, water supply remains adequate, but conditions are beginning to place moderate pressure on the District’s supply relative to demand. Customers are asked to begin conserving water voluntarily.
Stage 1 Guidelines and Actions:
• Voluntary Conservation: Customers are requested to reduce water use and follow recommended restrictions on certain water uses. (See link on our website www.lefthandwater.gov for details.)
• System Operations: Flushing of fire hydrants and dead-end water lines will be limited to what is necessary to maintain water quality.
• Fix Leaks Quickly: All leaks must be addressed promptly. The District will respond quickly to reported leaks – customers are encouraged to do the same on their property.
• Public Education: The District will continue to provide water-wise tips, tools, and educational resources.
• Hydrant Meter Use: Water use through hydrant meters will be monitored to manage overall system demand. Approved uses, including potable water delivery and construction within the District, will continue to be allowed.
Your actions now can make a difference.
Early conservation helps protect our water supply and reduces the likelihood of stricter restrictions later.
