This fall, Longmont residents will decide if they want to implement Ranked Choice Voting for their council elections and whether to simplify the cycles for electing Longmont council.

Longmont City Council voted 6-1 and 5-2, respectively, to get these measures on the ballot and let the voters decide.

Longmont City Council voted 6-1 to advance a ranked choice voting charter amendment!

Just after 12:30 late last night, Longmont City Council voted 6-1 as the first official step of referring RCV to the ballot. After nearly 5.5 hours the chambers were still packed with people and RCV signs! This would not have happened without this turnout.

As amazing as last night was, this effort is far from over. The RCV proposals will come back to Council for two final votes on August 11 and 25, and we need to keep showing up to make sure they make it to the ballot!
