📢LONGPORT POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE📢

On Monday at approximately 4:30 a.m., Longport Police responded to the 100 block of South 28th Avenue for a reported stolen motor vehicle. During the incident, the vehicle owner encountered the suspects inside her vehicle, causing them to flee recklessly from the area in the stolen vehicle.

Through a department-wide investigation utilizing CCTV footage, technology-based investigative techniques, and coordination with the Atlantic City Police Department, a juvenile suspect was identified. Approximately 36 hours later, the juvenile was apprehended and processed on charges in both Atlantic City and Longport.

The juvenile is currently lodged at Harborfields Juvenile Detention Facility on various charges, including first-degree carjacking, second-degree robbery, second-degree theft of a motor vehicle, second-degree conspiracy to commit theft, and fourth-degree joyriding.

This incident serves as another important reminder to our residents and visitors: Please lock your vehicles, remove all valuables, and never leave keys or key fobs inside. Vehicle-related crimes continue to impact communities throughout our area, and taking a few simple precautions can significantly reduce the opportunity for theft.

We thank the Atlantic City Police Department and the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office for their continued cooperation and assistance.
All charges are accusations, and the juvenile is presumed innocent until proven delinquent in a court of law.

Supporting Longport’s Young Entrepreneurs!

On Sunday, August 23, Sgt. Quinton Wright, Officer Morelli, and Officer Kramer were feeling the summer heat when they came across some young entrepreneurs hard at work at 32nd and Monmouth Avenue.

Of course, our officers couldn’t pass up the opportunity to stop, cool off, and support a local business! More importantly, it was a great chance to recognize a group of kids who took the initiative to get outside, put in some work, and make the most of a summer day.

We want to give a special thank you to these young entrepreneurs for their hard work, hospitality, and efforts! Moments like these are what make summer in Longport special and give our officers another opportunity to interact with the families and children who make up our community.

Great job, kids — and thanks for helping keep our officers cool! ☀️👮‍♂️🍋

Longport Police Department Welcomes New Officer

The Longport Police Department is proud to welcome back one of our own as our newest full-time Police Officers, Patrick Quinn.

A native of Hamilton Township, Mercer County, he graduated from Steinert High School in 2022 before beginning his law enforcement career with the Longport Police Department as a Class I Special Law Enforcement Officer during the summer of 2023.

Following his first summer in Longport, he continued his public safety career as a dispatcher with Egg Harbor Township beginning in October 2023. He returned to Longport for a second season as a Class I Officer during the summer of 2024 before entering the police academy in August 2024 after being hired by the Ventnor City Police Department. He successfully graduated from the academy in January 2025 and began his career as a full-time police officer.

Now, his career has brought him back to where it all began. Having previously served our community and worked alongside many of our officers, he already understands the high level of service and professionalism expected by the Longport Police Department. We are excited to welcome him back to our ranks and look forward to watching him continue to grow throughout his career while serving the residents and visitors of Longport. Ofc. Quinn will serve on Squad 3 where he will complete his Field Training program.

Please join Chief Ray Burgan and the members of the Longport Police Department in congratulating our newest officer and welcoming him back home to Longport!

⚠️ TRAFFIC ADVISORY – JFK MEMORIAL BRIDGE, LONGPORT ⚠️

Motorists are advised that on Tuesday, August 18 — and possibly Wednesday, August 19 — a stop-and-go / lane-shift traffic pattern will be in effect on the JFK Memorial Bridge in Longport from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, weather permitting.

The temporary traffic pattern is necessary for the installation of new navigation lights.

🚗 Motorists may experience delays and are encouraged to allow extra travel time or consider an alternate route. Traffic directors will be on scene to assist motorists.
