Last week, the Longview City Council adopted its 2026 Council Goals through Resolution 2613.

These goals set the direction for our work in the year ahead and reflect our commitment to serving the Longview community.

Every project, every conversation, and every decision connects back to these shared goals because this is how we build a community where people feel safe, supported, and proud to call Longview home.

Happy Thanksgiving to Our Wonderful Community….

Dear City of Longview, family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, and residents,

On this Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Our community thrives because of the kindness, resilience, and dedication of its people, and I feel incredibly privileged to serve you.

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what brings us together and to cherish the bonds that unite us as neighbors and friends. Whether you’re gathering with loved ones, lending a hand to those in need, or simply enjoying a quiet day of gratitude, I hope this holiday fills your heart with warmth and joy.

I am thankful for the opportunity to work alongside you to build a brighter future for our community. Together, we can continue to make Longview a place we are all proud to call home.

Wishing you and your loved ones a safe, happy, and peaceful Thanksgiving 2025!

With gratitude,
Kalei C. LaFave

“Being humble means, recognizing that we are not on earth to see how important we can become, but to see how much difference we can make in the lives of others”.

I would like to personally thank the Exalted Ruler from the Longview Kelso, Elks, Robert Bornstedt for presenting me with this “ Citizen of the Year” award last night. At the end of the day, what really matters is that your loved ones are well, you’ve done your best, and that you’re thankful for all you have.

Thank you, God for blessing me much more than I deserve. I am humbled and honored to accept this award.

Our scissors today couldn’t cut it- but we still had a great crowd at the reopening of the Mint Valley Racquet Complex with USTA Pacific Northwest.
Proud to join Mayor Spencer Boudrea, Councilwoman Angie Wean, City Manager Jen Wills, City of Longview Department managers, and representatives from the USTA today to commemorate the occasion.
It’s a great day for Longview, and we are glad to be able to share this wonderful recreation opportunity not just with our community, but with visitors!

I just returned home from Olympia from the Association of Washington City’s conference. It’s always great to have information that can enhance the decisions we make as council members.

It allows us to have meetings with state Senators and our State Representatives at the Capital building. They work extremely hard for the better of our communities and I’d like to thank them personally. Thank you Senator Jeff Wilson, State Representative Jim Walsh, and State Representative Joel McIntyre. Keep up the hard work!

It was educational and beneficial!

I would like to thank all law-enforcement officers for their love, protection, care, and support for our communities.

Such gratitude to Cowlitz County Sheriffs Department, Longview Police Department, Kelso Police Department, Kalama Police Department, Woodland Police Department, Toutle Police Department, Washington State Patrol, and all in work in law enforcement near and far!

They are heroes that are among us.
