Gregg County Deputies Arrest Suspect Following Vehicle Pursuit and Narcotics Seizure

On the night of June 3, 2026, deputies with the Gregg County Sheriff's Office located a vehicle reported stolen earlier that day from a neighboring jurisdiction.

When deputies attempted to make contact with the driver, the vehicle fled the scene, leading deputies on a pursuit through Gregg County. The pursuit ended when the vehicle left the roadway and became disabled. Deputies then took the driver, identified as Sammie Brewer, into custody without further incident.

During the investigation, deputies recovered a stolen firearm from Brewer's possession. A search of the vehicle also resulted in the seizure of suspected narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia.

Brewer was arrested and transported to the Gregg County Jail. He was booked on the following charges:

Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle
Theft of a Firearm
Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle
Possession of a Dangerous Drug
Possession of Ma*****na Under Two Ounces
Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon
Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1 (two counts)

This case remains under investigation.

Although Gregg County is NOT currently under a burn ban, we strongly encourage residents to refrain from outdoor burning today due to elevated fire weather conditions.

According to the National Weather Service office in Shreveport, winds are increasing out of the south at 10–15 mph, with gusts reaching 18–25 mph. Temperatures will climb into the mid-60s to lower 70s, and relative humidity values are expected to drop to 20–25%.

These conditions create an elevated fire danger across all districts, with the potential for rapid fire spread, especially this afternoon through early evening.

Even controlled burns can quickly get out of hand in windy, dry conditions. We ask everyone to use caution and postpone any outdoor burning until conditions improve.

Let’s work together to keep Gregg County safe.
