BEFORE/AFTER - Critical home repairs story!💙

She had been living with the risk of falling — and unable to use the bathroom she needed.

After surgery in 2015 left Ms. Budnick on disability and requiring oxygen around the clock, necessary repairs to her home became increasingly difficult to manage. Worn carpet created a tripping hazard, unsanitary conditions raised concerns for her respiratory health, and a leak in her master bathroom shower meant she could not safely use the bathroom best equipped for her needs.

Through our Home Repair Program, we stepped in to help create a safer and more comfortable home.

Her project included:

✓ Replacing carpet in the living room, hallway, and master bedroom with vinyl flooring
✓ Replacing the leaking master bathroom shower so she could safely use it again
✓ Inspecting the electrical box for potential safety concerns
✓ Checking the front and back doors for needed repairs
✓ Repairing a damaged area of the exterior soffit

For Ms. Budnick, these repairs are about more than improving a house. They are about being able to move through her home with greater safety, breathe easier, and continue living with the comfort and dignity everyone deserves.

Because home should never be a place where someone has to choose between safety and independence.💚💙

Building More Than Homes—Building Community.

At Northeast Texas Habitat for Humanity, we believe that strong communities are built through collaboration. That’s why we were honored to partner with J-Star Ministries, Inc. to help repair the exterior of their future facility—a place that will soon serve and support people throughout our community.

Over the course of three days, an incredible team of volunteers gave their time, energy, and skills to help bring this project to life. Their hard work is a reminder that when people come together with a shared purpose, amazing things can happen.

To every volunteer who picked up a hammer, climbed a ladder, or simply showed up ready to serve—thank you. Your generosity is helping create spaces where hope can grow, lives can be changed, and our community can continue to thrive.
