🌱Wellness isn't just something we talk about with our families. We're practicing it within our own team, too.

The LHA WellNest Initiative is an internal wellness initiative designed to create intentional opportunities for our team to pause, connect, learn, grow, and recharge.

Once a month during one of our weekly team meetings, we incorporate a mindful, planned wellness activity into our workday.

We started by getting ROOTED. 🌱

Our team spent time painting and planting office plants—creating something that we can continue to nurture long after the activity was over.

And there are benefits beyond making the office look beautiful!

Research has associated indoor plants and exposure to greenery with benefits such as reduced stress, improved mood, and greater connection to our environment. Plus, watching something grow is a pretty good reminder that meaningful growth takes time, care, and consistency.

🌱 Want to get rooted, too?

Consider adding a plant to your home, workspace, or balcony. Choose something you enjoy and make caring for it part of your routine.

Sometimes growth starts with something as simple as putting down roots.

What are you growing?

🛑 STOP BEFORE YOU CLICK!

Scammers are becoming more creative—and sometimes a message can look very real.

Before clicking a link, opening an attachment, sending money, or giving someone your personal information, ask yourself:

🔎 WHO is contacting me?
📞 Can I verify that this person or organization is legitimate?
💰 Are they asking me for money?
🔐 Are they asking for sensitive information?
⏰ Are they pressuring me to act immediately?

If something feels suspicious, stop and verify it before taking action.

Remember:

Scammers want you to act quickly.
Protect yourself by slowing down.

⏰ DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOUR ANNUAL RECERTIFICATION!

Did something change in your household?

Don't wait for your annual appointment to tell LHA.

📌 Changes should be reported within 10 business days.

That includes changes such as:

🏠 Household members
💼 Employment
💰 Income
👨‍👩‍👧 Family composition
📋 Other changes that may affect your housing assistance

Keeping LHA informed helps ensure your rent and assistance are calculated correctly.

Remember: 10 business days. Every time.

If you're unsure whether a change needs to be reported, contact LHA. We're here to help you understand your responsibilities.

💪🏽 FRIDAY WELLNESS: MOVE FOR YOUR HEALTH

You don't need an expensive gym membership or a complicated workout plan to take care of your body.

Try adding a little more movement to your day:

🚶🏽 Take a walk around your neighborhood
🪴 Work in your garden
🧹 Clean your home
💃🏽 Dance to your favorite music
🧘🏽 Stretch for 10 minutes
🏃🏽 Take the stairs when you can

Even small amounts of movement can be a step toward a healthier lifestyle.

Your health matters. Your family matters. Your future matters.

This weekend, find one way to move your body—and have a little fun while you're doing it!

📬➡️💻 A NEW WAY TO STAY CONNECTED WITH LHA

LHA is moving toward a paperless recertification process, with electronic annual reexaminations beginning October 1, 2026.

Why the change?

A paperless process can help make communication faster, more convenient, and easier to manage while reducing the amount of paper used by our agency.

One of the most important things you can do now is activate your Assistance Connect account.

📱 Don't have an account yet? LHA is offering classes to help participants get set up.

💡 You don't have to figure it out alone. We want to make this transition as easy as possible.

Register for upcoming classes here: https://forms.gle/JjBcP89DQMYT3ZXo8

Get connected. Stay informed. Stay ready.

🚨 PROGRAM INTEGRITY REMINDER: HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS MATTER

🏠 Adding someone to your household should be about your household—not your voucher size.

LHA has identified situations where a household member is added to a participant’s household and later removed after they begin working or their income is identified through required program verification.

⚠️ This is not an acceptable way to maintain or increase voucher assistance.

Household members must have a legitimate reason for residing in the assisted unit and must be approved by LHA before moving into the household. Participants are also required to accurately report changes in household composition and income.

🔎 LHA uses required verification systems to review household information, including income information reported through HUD’s Enterprise Income Verification (EIV) system.

If information reported to LHA does not match verified information, the participant may be required to provide documentation and could be responsible for repayment of assistance received incorrectly.

Remember:

✅ Only approved household members should reside in your assisted unit.
✅ Report household changes within 10 business days.
✅ Report income changes as required.
✅ Never add or remove a household member simply to affect your voucher size or rent calculation.
✅ If you're unsure whether a household change needs to be reported, ask LHA first.

Your housing assistance is a valuable resource. Protect it by following program requirements and keeping your household information accurate.

💚 FRIDAY WELLNESS CHECK-IN

Taking care of your home is important. Taking care of YOU is important, too.

Life can bring stress—work, finances, family responsibilities, housing concerns, and everything in between. You don't have to solve everything in one day.

This weekend, try one small thing for your mental well-being:

🧘🏽‍♀️ Take 10 minutes to breathe and reset
🚶🏽‍♀️ Take a walk
📵 Step away from social media for a while
📞 Call someone you trust
😴 Get some rest
💧 Drink some water
❤️ Give yourself permission to slow down

A healthier you helps create a healthier home.

LHA is committed to supporting our participants not only in maintaining housing—but in building healthy, stable lives.
