Update 6:32pm: ROADWAY OPEN

Please avoid the 3000 block of Bill Stoudt Road. All eastbound traffic is blocked between Spring Hill High School and McCann Road.

The Longview Police Department and Gregg County Sheriff’s Office want the public to know that not every vehicle marked “police” is affiliated with our agencies. Some construction companies hire off-duty officers from outside agencies to assist with traffic control.

Please stay alert, slow down, and follow traffic directions when traveling through construction zones.

Update 9:40 pm: Roadway has been cleared.

Please avoid the 5200 block of West Loop 281 near Birdsong Street while the Longview Fire Department works in the area.

Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route. We will provide an update once the area has been cleared.

Update 08/12/2026 7:50a.m.: Two individuals have been arrested in connection with this investigation.

Jummon Terrill Barkins, 28, was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Earnest James Survia Jr., 38, was arrested for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon with Felony Convictions, along with multiple outstanding warrants.
