Earlier this month, our Fire Administrator Shanda attended the annual TFCA Administration Conference as part of her continuing education. Working behind the scenes, she keeps the organization running — handling administrative paperwork, budgeting, bookkeeping, and countless other tasks that support our daily operations.

On 5/10, Judson Fire was dispatched to an automatic fire alarm at a residence. Upon arrival, it was determined the alarm was activated by a fire inside the home, and the homeowner was not present at the time. Units from JFD made an interior attack, saving the residence and keeping the fire contained to one room. LFD Engine 7 and BC 2 responded to assist. No injuries were reported. Additional responding units included JFD Engine 2, Tanker 1, and Squad 1.

This past week, two Judson Firefighters completed Basic Wildland Firefighter Certification.

On Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the request of Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), a statewide test of emergency alerting systems will occur between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

In conjunction with this statewide exercise, the City of Longview will complete its monthly test of our emergency alert warning system at noon. This includes our early warning sirens and Smart911 mobile emergency alerts.

This test will take the place of our normally scheduled test on the first Wednesday of the month.

Because jurisdictions across the region may participate in this test, you may receive more than one test alert on your phone during the testing window.

This will only be a test. No emergency action is required.

Testing helps ensure emergency alert systems function properly and allows agencies to evaluate how alerts are delivered during real emergencies.

Please Note: Siren Site #8 at McCann & Montclair is currently out of service while awaiting parts and batteries.

Siren testing will occur as weather permits.

Over the last few weeks, the Judson Fire Department and the ESD have been completing updates to the old station location, and we are proud to announce that Station 2 is now open. This station will house a 1,000‑gallon engine that will be staffed by volunteers. By adding a secondary station, responders are now closer to a facility on the northern part of the district and will respond to Station 2, which reduces response times.
