Watch vs. Warning: Know the Difference

Have you ever wondered what separates a weather “watch” from a “warning”?

A Watch means conditions for severe weather are favorable. The event is possible. This is your time to prepare.

A Warning means the event is happening now or will happen soon. Take protective action immediately.

This distinction applies to tornadoes, flooding, severe thunderstorms and more. Knowing the difference helps you respond quickly and confidently, rather than hesitating when time is critical.
