With warmer weather on the way, we want to remind everyone of an important local ordinance regarding feeding animals on city property.

While it often comes from a place of compassion, feeding animals on city property can create safety, health, and environmental concerns for both people and the animals themselves. It can also unintentionally encourage dependency and overpopulation.

As a reminder, feeding stray animals on city property is not permitted. We kindly ask everyone to help us keep our community safe and balanced by following this ordinance.

If you’re concerned about animals, please consider contacting local animal services or shelters, who are best equipped to provide proper care and support. You can also make contact with the Loogootee Police Department.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we head into the warmer months.
