Welcome to Sea Mar Lopez Clinic! As of today, June 29, Sea Mar Community Health Centers (Sea Mar) will operate the Lopez Medical Clinic.

The Clinic will continue to be open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, including this Friday, July 3, the day before the 4th of July holiday. To schedule an appointment, call 360-468-2245. Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to complete registration for Sea Mar.

Changing from UW Medicine to Sea Mar began last week and will continue throughout the summer. Most of the previous staff, including Physician Associate Sam Rich, are continuing as Sea Mar employees.

Operating more than 90 community-based clinics, Sea Mar has a 48-year history of delivering quality primary health care to diverse communities in Washington State, including small communities and rural areas. Sea Mar is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), which will enable the Lopez Medical clinic to receive additional federal funding.

Please be patient with everyone at the Clinic as they learn new phone and computer systems and policies and procedures as well as set up some new equipment. Existing and new staff are getting oriented and organized to be able to continue to provide quality health care to the community (read the recent press release, “Sea Mar Lopez Clinic Announces Staffing Plan,” for more details).

Cuts and bruises bandaged, hearts examined, medical mysteries solved. Uninterrupted service through the COVID pandemic. Maybe even a nudge to eat your vegetables. Thank you to everyone who served at the UW Lopez Clinic over the last eight years. Thousands of Lopezians are healthier because of you.

If you happen to see a member of the clinic staff this weekend, feel free to thank them. Over the past year, they have shown remarkable resilience through a period of constant transition, often working short-staffed while facing uncertainty about their own roles.

These last few days have been especially demanding, as UW and Sea Mar teams worked alongside staff who were simultaneously training for new positions and seeing urgent-needs patients, all while dismantling and rebuilding the Clinic’s IT system and restocking it with Sea Mar supplies. They will return on Monday to open a newly restructured Clinic with new procedures.
