Lopez Island Fire and EMS responded to a wildland fire this morning on Port Stanley Road. No injuries were reported and no structures were involved.

Lopez Island Fire and EMS has an amazing group of Emergency Medical Responders that deliver expert care in our time of need. Although they don’t do it for recognition, we think it is important to acknowledge their contribution to the community.

Please be advised, this Saturday (April 18) there will be smoke coming from the area of Hummel Lake Road, nearer to Fisherman Bay, between 10am and 4pm.

San Juan County Fire District 4 (Lopez Fire Department) will be conducting a training for wildland firefighters during this time.

IF YOU NEED TO CALL 911 TODAY be advised that your landline through CenturyLink may not work to do so. You may need to find another means to call (cell phone, neighbor's phone, etc).

CenturyLink has reported that 931 customers on Shaw and Lopez with landlines may not be able to call 911 from these landlines today (Thurs 4/16). Hopefully this will only be until 3pm.

The Sewer District is doing a leak test in the Village around 11am today (Thursday 2/5/2026). Please note that pressurized testing will be being done with smoke, so you may see smoke coming from the ground.

When is the last time you cleaned your chimney? You should be cleaning your chimneys at least once a year. Come by and borrow our chimney brush and rods so you can sweep the flue (from the top or bottom). We have 2 sets of chimney brushes for you to borrow, stop by Station 41 (2228 Fisherman Bay Road) to get on the list!
