The MHARS Board of Lorain County gives a shout out to Shawn Kirts on his recovery and we are proud of the good work of Let's Get Real Inc. and the Place to Recover Training and Resource Center (P2R). 👍

More than eight years ago, Shawn Kirts was struggling with addiction, cycling in and out of jail and searching for a way to change his life.
Today, he serves as founder and pastor of Your Son Our Savior Church at 3233 Pearl Ave., using his own recovery journey to help others facing many of the same challenges he once experienced. Story in comments.

June is !

According to Mental Health America nearly 20% of American adult men - that’s around 24.6 million people - experienced a mental health condition over the last year. And yet, many men resist seeking treatment because of stigma.

In 2025, they found that men who took a mental health test on MHA Screening were two times less likely than women to ask for help. This Men’s Mental Health Month, we’re here to remind men that asking for help isn’t a weakness; it takes incredible strength.

We all have mental health. Check in with yours today at mhascreening.org.
