Housed in a unique, historic WPA building in the center of Lordsburg, NM, the Lordsburg Hidalgo Library has been offering library services since 1919. From our beautiful stained glass windows and traditional adobe walls to our high, viga-constructed ceilings, we continue to offer valuable services to our county residents. Located in Hidalgo County, New Mexico, (designated a "Frontier County" due t

o our remote location and sparse population), our library gives county residents access to traditional offerings such as paper books and local history as well as ebooks, WiFi, fax and copy services and genealogy programs. We believe in the youth of our county and strive to reach them with services geared to meeting their needs. Always welcome here, youth will find a bright, sunny space to find a book, video, puzzle or art project to work on. Summers find us preparing to engage them in thought provoking programs and stories each week as we host the summer reading program. Early morning reading the kids got up early and said they have to meet their goal of 130 books! So grateful not one has asked for a tablet or said they are bored! They are even taking turns reading to each other such an amazing thing thank you for doing summer reading 🩷

This week we kicked off our summer reading program. During registration on Monday the kids were able to adopt a dinosaur. Tuesday we went digging for a little family history and made Family trees. Thursday we had some amazing guests tell us stories about how Lordsburg used to be. Thank you so much Mr Manuel Saucedo and Mrs Mollie Pressler. We really enjoyed having you join us for summer reading. Its not too late to join the fun and remember, its for adults too. 😊
