We would like to welcome Ms. Amanda McMahan to our SLS Family in a different role!
Hey guys! My name is Amanda McMahan, and I am so excited to be returning to South Lawrence School this year in a different role, as a classroom teacher! It is especially meaningful to me because South Lawrence is also where I went to school growing up, so being able to come back and teach here truly feels special.
I have worked in education for several years as an educational assistant at SLS and as a substitute teacher for Lawrence County before that. After 6 years as an educational assistant, I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from WGU in 2025 and am incredibly thankful and excited to begin this new chapter in the classroom.
Outside of school, life is busy and full of exciting changes! I am getting married this October to Bubba Carter. Between my son, Case, and soon to be stepson, Jaxon, we stay busy at ball games all year long and definitely have a lot of fun along the way. We also enjoy going to Tennessee Vols football games every chance we get. Go Vols!
Family is a huge part of my life, and I love being involved in school and community activities whenever I can. I am passionate about creating a supportive classroom where students feel encouraged to learn and grow. I’m so thankful for this opportunity and cannot wait to meet my kiddos and get started this school year!
GO STALLIONS! 😊
