On September 3rd Robert Timothy Lance was arrested for Aggravated Assault. A contractor pressure washing at Weather's Park reported that Lance approached him around 10am and began harassing him by impeding his work and videoing him with a cellphone. During the incident Lance retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and threatened the contractor. The contractor left and called police.
While being arrested and booked, Lance made several statements threatening the Mayor, City Manager, Aldermen, and Police Chief. Lance was also charged with making Terrorist Threats as a result of these statements. A search warrant was obtained and executed at Lance’s residence where the firearm used in the assault and others were seized.
Lance was booked into the Lawrence County Jail and has a $110,000 bond with a first appearance in General Sessions set for October. Officers were assisted by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, St. Joseph Police Department, Constables Randy Tucker and Tony Lancaster.

Lance is innocent until proven guilty.

This storm will enter our area if it holds together. Remember the NOAA radios are offline so if you know someone who depends on those please contact them and have them monitor Tennessee Valley Weather for the latest.

NOAA Weather Radios for our area will be down tomorrow. Make sure you have a reliable source for weather information.

NOAA Weather Radios for our area will be down tomorrow. Make sure you have a reliable source for weather information.

To clarify the information about the NOAA Weather Radio outage, it is ONLY the counties serviced by the Nashville and Birmingham NWS offices that are affected today, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The counties serviced by the Huntsville office are ***NOT*** affected by this. This also ONLY affects the NOAA weather radios. This does ***NOT*** affect smart phone apps, sirens, TV and FM/AM radio stations relaying warnings, or any other methods of sending out watches and warnings.

Another note, this outage was scheduled at the national HQ level, and the local NWS offices have ZERO control or power to change it or reschedule it. While this is impactful and not a good thing, and you have the legitimate right to be upset if you are affected by this outage, this is NOT the fault of the local offices at Nashville and Birmingham. Please do not blame them. This is beyond their control.

Use caution while traveling this morning!

Heavy fog and just below freezing temps are causing some patches of ice on roads. Especially in low lying areas and where the road is sheltered by trees. Conditions should improve once temps rise.
