The City of Loris, SC The City of Loris was incorporated with only a one-mile radius on July 26, 1902.

Since then, the City has grown to a total area of 3.1 square miles with approximately 2,600 residents.

06/05/2026: Political Signs & Signs in Rights-of-Way

Loris Planning Department: As stated during Monday’s City Council meeting, our department would like to remind the general public that no signs are allowed to be placed in any rights-of-way within the City of Loris’ jurisdiction, except those stated in the City’s Zoning Ordinance. Signs painted on or attached to trees, fence posts, telephone or other utility poles, rocks, or other natural features are explicitly prohibited. Any off-premise signs must be in conformance with the requirements of the City’s OPO (Off-Premises Sign Overlay) Zone. Non-exempt signs placed within any right-of-way are forfeited and subject to confiscation.

Additionally, all political campaign signs must be removed within ten (10) days of an election. Any signs not compliant with the City’s Zoning Ordinance will be removed.
