Alcorn State University conferred degrees upon 472 graduates Saturday during its 2026 Spring Commencement. There were 370 undergraduates and 102 graduate students. 🎓🇺🇸 The Alcorn State University Army ROTC Color Guard proudly represented the Braves Battalion during the Alcorn State University Spring 2026 Commencement Ceremony.

Today, our cadets demonstrated the discipline, professionalism, and pride that define Army ROTC while honoring this special milestone for the graduating class of 2026.

From presenting the Nation’s colors to standing tall before alumni, families, faculty, and graduates — these future leaders continue to exemplify excellence both on campus and in service.

We are proud of our cadets and thankful for the opportunity to support such a historic and memorable occasion. Congratulations to all ASU graduates! 💜💛🪖

🇺🇸 Congratulations to two outstanding Alcorn State Army ROTC Cadets on being selected as recipients of the prestigious USAA Scholarship Award through the Civilian Sponsored Scholarship Program (CSSP)!

👏 Cadet Paris Jackson
👏 Cadet Ra’quon Coleman

Each cadet was awarded a $1,000 scholarship in recognition of their academic excellence, leadership potential, dedication, and commitment to serving as future Army officers.

In addition, Cadet Ra’quon Coleman was also presented the Spirit Award for displaying exceptional motivation, professionalism, and cadet spirit throughout the program. 🏆

The USAA Scholarship supports deserving non-scholarship Army ROTC Cadets across the nation and reflects the continued investment in developing tomorrow’s Army leaders.

What an incredible night at our 1st Combined Annual Spring Military Gala!

This event was truly a success and a testament to the strength of our partnership. While Jackson State and Alcorn will always carry that competitive rivalry, this gala proved that when it comes to ROTC, we are one team—committed to developing the next generation of Army leaders.

We were honored to have COL Don Hursey as our guest speaker, who delivered a powerful and impactful message that resonated with both our cadets and guests.

A special thank you to our alumni for your continued support—your presence and investment mean everything as we continue to grow.

Kudos to PMS MAJ Justin Smith for his leadership and vision in building and shaping this program for years to come.

Most importantly, we are extremely proud of our cadets. From planning to ex*****on, this was a cadet-led event, showcasing their ability to lead, coordinate, and execute a formal military program with excellence. And they looked amazing doing it!
