Have you ever wondered what the Founding Fathers thought of one another? Come find out at Declaration Day!

We’ve invited Thomas Jefferson and George Washington to share their thoughts on George Mason and the Virginia Declaration of Rights.

Even better, you'll have two opportunities to hear from them—at 10:30 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. Bring all the questions you've always wanted to ask, then stick around for photos afterward.

Historical interpreters Steven Edenbo and Doug Thomas join us in partnership with the American Historical Theatre of Philadelphia.

We are just ONE WEEK away from our ever-popular Nature Thursdays!

We’re inviting all little explorers to tug on their boots and join us for a storytime, hike, and craft! 📚🥾🧶

The theme for this June is Summer! We’ll be reading Summer Song by Kevin Henkes and illustrated by Laura Dronzek. We’ll use our senses to learn about the weather and go on a guided hike to identify and describe the sounds of nature! Then we’ll make a rain stick for our friends to bring the music of the season home with them!

This program runs rain or shine, so please practice outdoor preparedness and dress for the weather!

We’re excited to welcome delicious local food vendors, including the Mason Neck Lions Club and Colonial Kettle Corn, serving up festival favorites throughout the day. From fresh-popped kettle corn to classic cookout fare, there’s something for everyone to enjoy while onsite.

Declaration Day is filled with patriotic music! 🎶 🥁

We’re looking forward to hosting the Itinerant Band this year. We’ve been listening to their music for years and are excited to share them with you! Join us on the lawn on Saturday, June 13, from 11:45 a.m. – 1:45 p.m. to enjoy their joyful 18th-century music.

We’ll also feature patriotic tunes from the Sons of the American Revolution Fife and Drum as they process to and from the wreath-laying ceremony at 10:15 a.m.

Strap on your explorer boots and join us for Nature Thursdays on June 4 at 10:30 a.m.!

Your preschool-aged ecologists will join Gunston Educators for a themed story time and a guided nature hike to traverse the woods and waterways on the Grounds of Gunston Hall. Exciting exploratory activities will help preschoolers gain essential skills including preschool readiness, respect for our environment, gross and fine motor refinement, self-expression and more!

The theme for June is Summer! We’ll be reading Summer Song by Kevin Henkes and illustrated by Laura Dronzek. Together, we’ll observe the weather and learn about measuring the temperature. During our guided hike, we’ll use our senses to identify things and animals in nature that make noises in the summer and describe the sounds they make. Later, we'll use our fine-motor skills to create a rain-stick and make our own summer song!

This program runs rain or shine, so please practice outdoor preparedness and dress for the weather!
