On June 6, 1944, Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, in the largest amphibious invasion in history. Operation Overlord marked a significant turning point in World War II and paved the way for the liberation of Western Europe.

Eighty-two years later, we take a moment to honor the American Soldiers, including those in the Army Reserve, who answered the call, crossed the channel, and sacrificed everything so that others could be free. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Their bravery resonates through every generation that follows.

The 83rd U.S. Army Reserve Readiness Training Center (ARRTC) hosted a five-day Company Command Team Development Course for leaders across the 79th Theater Sustainment Command at JFTB Los Alamitos, California, June 1-5, 2026.

Throughout the week, company commanders and first sergeants sharpened critical leadership skills through training focused on effective communication techniques, troop leading procedures (TLPs), the Armyโ€™s 8-Step Training Model, and command support systems. These sessions provided command teams with the tools and knowledge needed to effectively lead Soldiers, plan and execute training, and maintain mission readiness across their formations.

As the Army Reserve continues to support operations around the globe, professional development opportunities like this are essential to building cohesive command teams capable of leading in complex and dynamic environments. By strengthening communication, improving planning processes, and enhancing understanding of key administrative and training management systems, leaders are better equipped to care for Soldiers, develop combat-ready units, and accomplish mission requirements.

Investing in leader development directly contributes to the readiness and effectiveness of the Army Reserve. Well-trained command teams foster disciplined, resilient organizations that can rapidly respond to national emergencies, support combatant commanders, and serve their communities when called upon.

The 79th Theater Sustainment Command remains committed to developing agile, adaptive leaders who embody the Army Values and ensure their units remain ready to fight and win whenever and wherever the nation calls.

This Memorial Day, the Soldiers and Civilians of the 79th Theater Sustainment Command pause to honor and remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our Nation.

Their courage, selfless service, and unwavering commitment to defending our freedoms will never be forgotten. Today we stand on the foundation they built and remain committed to carrying forward their legacy with honor and purpose.

Let us remember the most recent lives lost during Operation Epic Fury and reflect on the true meaning of their sacrifice.
