Los Altos Hills County Fire District’s annual goat grazing program is underway at Byrne Preserve Open Space.

These goats are on duty protecting the community and lowering the risk of wildfire by munching down dry brush, blackberry vines, thistles, poison oak, and other hazardous vegetation in steep and hard-to-reach areas where machinery can be difficult or damaging to use.

Please remember: the goats and dogs are working animals.

For their safety and yours, give them space and do not approach or disturb them while they work. For more information: lahcfd.org/goats

Strong communities start with strong leaders — so let’s recognize the moms. This Mother’s Day, we’re celebrating the women who help make our neighborhoods safer, stronger, and more wildfire resilient every day. Their care and leadership make a lasting impact.

Anyone can join the effort:

--> Prepare your home and defensible space
-->Talk with your neighbors about wildfire readiness
--> Take action together to strengthen your community

Wildfire preparedness is more than planning ahead — it’s caring for the people and places we love. Preparedness is care in action.
