Thank you to everyone who made our Connections to Land and Culture event so meaningful this weekend!

We appreciate all the presenters and attendees for being part of the community education programming we are developing for all who wish to learn and engage in a good way.

At the event, more than 40 people gathered at Huhuunga to learn from California Native presenters who shared their cultural connections through, food, fashion, and art.

At this event, we'll explore our connections to land and culture through artistic expression. Meet California Native presenters as they share how they express these connections through food, fashion, and art — engage with them directly, hear their perspectives, and experience their creativity up close. Sample small bites rooted in the ingredients that tie us to this place, and take in the evening as the sun sets over Huhuunga. All friends and neighbors are welcome to attend.

The Tongva Taraxat Paxaavxa Conservancy is hosting Community Listening sessions and we want to hear from you!

We are reaching out to Gabrielino/Tongva and American Indian community members in the greater Los Angeles County region to learn more about cultural programming experiences, interests, and needs. This input is invaluable to guiding the TTPC in developing programming that honors the community.

We will host listening sessions throughout Summer. Each session and conversation will be facilitated by Dr. Jackie Kaslow, DrPH, MPH, Miwok, Nissenan, Pit River. There is a cap of ten participants per session.

At Huhuunga, all are welcome, and tasked with coming in a good way.

Since 2022, we've hosted more than 45 community events that cultivate space for Native people and neighbors alike to gather, learn, and grow together.

This weekend, we met on the land for Altadena Neighbors Coffee to share our connections to the local area, Huhuunga, and each other.

An essential part of our work to steward land and uplift culture in Tovaangar is gathering in ceremony to honor the changing of seasons, the land, and one another.

Last weekend, we marked the completion of our first year-long ceremonial cycle at Huhuunga with a meaningful Summer Solstice Ceremony.

We are deeply grateful to our relatives who showed up in a good way to honor our ancestors, each other, and this sacred place.

Our one acre site in Altadena is named Huhuunga, which means "Place of the Bears."

In 2022, Huhuunga became the first residential property voluntarily returned to Tongva stewardship in nearly 200 years. It now serves as a sacred space for all to gather, practice culture, and strengthen their relationship with the land.

We are grateful to be accompanied on our journey by our plant and animal relations and are constantly reminded of their deep lessons: strength, resilience, renewal, and healing. We invite you to continue following our journey as we honor the animals at Huhuunga.
