The 2026 Congress of Neighborhoods Quilt is a sustainability‑focused initiative that replaces traditional vinyl or plastic backdrops with a reusable, community‑made fabric installation. Neighborhood Councils are invited to contribute an NC t‑shirt or fabric tote bag featuring their logo, creating a vibrant quilt that visually represents the diversity and unity of Los Angeles’ NC system. In alignment with our commitment to reducing event waste, décor will rely on reusable or recyclable paper elements rather than balloons.

The Congress of Neighborhoods wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our 99 Neighborhood Councils and other sponsors. All Neighborhood Councils are asked to consider a contribution to fund our annual conference.

Steps for NCs to contribute:

Agendize a Contribution: We encourage all NCs to agendize a $1,000 contribution (or more) at your next board meeting.

Submit a Check Request: Once your board approves the motion, submit your check request and BAC through the City Clerk Funding Portal.

Last Call to Be Part of the 2026 Congress of Neighborhoods Quilt

We’re creating a one‑of‑a‑kind backdrop made entirely from Neighborhood Council t‑shirts, and we’d love to feature yours. Instead of producing another vinyl backdrop, this project embraces reuse and recycle principles by giving new life to shirts that might otherwise sit in storage. It’s a fun, creative, and sustainable way to showcase the spirit and diversity of all 99 NCs.

How to participate: Give your NC t‑shirt or tote bag to your Neighborhood Empowerment Advocate (NEA), and they’ll make sure it’s included. Together, we’ll stitch a vibrant, eco‑friendly quilt that celebrates the power of community across Los Angeles. All shirts/tote bags must be received by August 1, 2026.

As an exhibitor, your organization will have the opportunity to connect directly with attendees throughout the day, share information about your programs and services, grow your mailing list, answer questions, and build meaningful relationships with communities from across the City of Los Angeles.

🏛️ Save the Date: 2026 Los Angeles Congress of Neighborhoods

The 2026 Los Angeles Congress of Neighborhoods, the annual conference for the Neighborhood Council system, will take place on Saturday, September 26, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Los Angeles City Hall.

The event is free and open to the public, bringing together Neighborhood Council leaders, community advocates, City officials, and engaged residents from across Los Angeles.

📅 Registration opens August 28.
