Recent Crime Trend - Impersonation Scams
•Suspects are impersonating law enforcement and demanding payment for missed court appearances, fines, and infractions.
•The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and other police agencies will never request any type of payment over the phone or online.
•Official transactions are conducted in-person and inside a sheriff’s station, courthouse, or custody facility.
•Always verify a caller/sender and contents of a request through an independent source.
•For further information call 1-800-222-TIPS or to report a crime, please contact your local police or sheriff’s station.
