A mosque burned. Former Israeli officials comparing settlers to N***s. A pastor charged under a law that didn't yet exist.

This week's report spans six countries and but has one common thread: the growing distance between what is said and what is done.

West Bank — Israeli settlers torched the Nur al-Din Zanki Mosque near Nablus and spray-painted a taunt addressed to U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee: "regards from the terrorists." It was the 13th mosque desecration this year.

Lebanon — August 15 was the deadliest day since the June truce: 11 killed, including three children. Israel's defense minister vowed to keep troops in southern Lebanon indefinitely; the U.S. State Department said a permanent presence would violate the framework.

Gaza — The ceasefire death toll has passed 1,320. Israel raided Gaza City on September 1 and captured a Hamas security official. Israel has attacked Gaza on 290 of the ceasefire's 326 days.

Syria — Since the fall of Assad, Syria has recorded the largest single-year jump in Christian persecution anywhere on earth, driving the region's oldest Christian communities toward exodus.

India — A British Christian leader was charged in Maharashtra under an anti-conversion law that had not yet taken legal effect. When officials realized the error, they searched for other laws to apply rather than dropping the case.

Nigeria — Fulani militias killed at least 32 Christians across three states in early August, including infants and community leaders. Nigeria remains the deadliest country on ~earth~ Earth to be a Christian.

Today's alerts: a mosque burned, Christian schools shut down, and a village nears "disaster-stricken" status.

Burqa — Israeli settlers set fire to a mosque and sprayed hostile slogans on its walls during an incursion into the village.

Lebanon — President Aoun said the South will not remain a "forgotten region" or a "bargaining chip" in security negotiations.

Houla — The border village is approaching "disaster-stricken" status, with its mayor estimating 90% of it destroyed or damaged.

Lebanon — Washington is reportedly pushing against extending UNIFIL's mandate, raising urgent questions about who will verify security in the South.

Bethlehem — Israeli forces raided the city center during peak hours, paralyzing traffic and forcing merchants to shutter their shops.

Birzeit — Israel's military demolished two four-story residential buildings in the historic Christian academic town, home to Birzeit University.

Jerusalem — Christian schools suspended classes indefinitely after Israel denied entry permits to 235 West Bank teachers, affecting 8,500 students.

Debel — Christian students face growing barriers to education amid an ongoing siege, with families struggling to afford tuition, transportation, and basic supplies.

Today's alerts: Israel orders an American to remove his flag, an NBC crew attacked, and a Cardinal's visit to Lebanon.

Qabatiya/Jenin — Israeli forces chased youths through the streets of Qabatiya, while video showed soldiers assaulting an injured, terrified child during Jenin incursions.

Southern Lebanon — Cardinal Rainer Maria Woelki, Archbishop of Cologne, visited the Christian villages of Ain Ebel, Debel, and Rmeish, telling residents "you are not forgotten."

West Bank — Masked Israeli settlers attacked an NBC News crew and a displaced Palestinian woman they were interviewing, sending her and correspondent Matt Bradley to the hospital.

Hebron — Israeli soldiers assaulted Western journalists covering a settler march, while the military locked down Old City neighborhoods to clear the marchers' path.

Jerusalem — Palestinian bus driver Khaled Oweisat was violently attacked while working, part of a pattern in which Jerusalemite drivers face assaults at least twice a week.

West Bank — Netanyahu dismissed escalating settler violence as the behavior of "a handful of youth" and threatened a full re-invasion of Gaza, even as military officers warned the West Bank is "on the verge of explosion."

Qusra — The Israeli military ordered Palestinian-American citizen Louay Abu Rida to evacuate his home and remove the American flag he raised after settlers besieged his property for over a week.

Today's alerts: ambulances blocked, villages besieged, and Gaza's true toll revealed.

Jenin — Israeli forces expanded deployment across multiple neighborhoods, bombing a home, surrounding houses, and storming another. Ambulance crews were detained and blocked from reaching the wounded.

Southern Lebanon — Families, children, and elderly residents endured an 18-hour ordeal just to reach their own villages of Ain Ebel, Debel, and Rmeish, waiting 11 hours before being allowed to proceed.

Al-Mughayyir — Settlers, protected by Israeli forces, raided homes to steal sheep, killing the ones they couldn't take, and opened fire on residents.

Qusra — Settlers in convoys of four-wheel-drive vehicles besieged homes, torched farmland, and attacked an ambulance while Israeli forces blocked medical teams from reaching the injured.

Gaza — Israeli media broadcast footage confirming 80% of Gaza's infrastructure is destroyed. The reported 3% death toll counts only confirmed bodies, excluding thousands still buried under the rubble.

Arraba — Settlers beat residents and released livestock onto farmland to destroy olive groves, part of a weekly pattern originating from a nearby illegal outpost.

Across the Holy Land and Lebanon, vulnerable communities continue to face military escalation, displacement, restrictions on movement, and threats to their livelihoods.

These nine stories are different, but the human stakes are the same: families seeking safety, communities fighting to remain on their ancestral lands, and civilians trying to preserve their faith, homes, and livelihoods amid conflict.

VPP will continue to stand with these communities, defend human dignity, and ensure their stories are heard.

Pray for peace. Pray for protection. Stand with the vulnerable.

Around the world, Christians are mocked, imprisoned, driven from their homes, and killed simply for following Christ.

Their suffering is not forgotten by God.

Jesus himself promised that those who endure persecution for righteousness are blessed — not abandoned.

We remember our persecuted brothers and sisters today, and we stand with them in prayer and solidarity.

In a world filled with conflict, division, and suffering, God doesn't leave us wondering how to respond.

He calls us to:

Act justly and defend those whose voices are ignored.

Love mercy and meet suffering not with indifference, but with compassion.

Walk humbly and recognize that every person we encounter is made in the image of God.
This isn't just a verse to admire.

It's a calling to live.

"He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." — Micah 6:8
