Congrats to Debbie & Jeremy Kaplan for the store’s relocation to 594 W. Ave. 28. Thanks to for follow-up reporting & to Michael MacDonald of TERA - The Eagle Rock Association for putting in perspective how rent-gouging hurts ALL of us. It’s time to put real safeguards in place for retailers who play by the rules & penalties on greed that destabilizes our local economy & cuts at the heart of our community.

Come out Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 4 pm in for a rally in support of our Eastside communities. Please join in speaking up for a full inquiry into how local residents’ health & safety were treated as expendable before, during, & after the . Push for better & evacuation strategy for Eastside residents in any future calamity like the that began in June 2026.

Great meeting, -ers! Vibrant discussion on at least 4 community initiatives along with on . Great to hear from Assemblymember Nick Schultz; publisher of the LA Progressive Sharon Kyle, who is also leading the way with the ; courageous local union organizers in ; advocates for local day laborers with the Coalition; & the advocates on Crane Blvd. with a message for City Hall from ALL Angelenos, especially residents. Valuable presentation by members of L.A. Fire Department, in their private capacity, to promote on the L.A. city ballot for a half-cent sales tax to fill a big gap in capacity that has life-or-death impacts on city residents. Did you know that L.A. has not expanded fire personnel or resources in 65 years, while the number of stations has actually shrunk & the population has nearly doubled?

Congrats to these newly Democrats running for local office here in our communities: *Randall Winston, candidate for Los Angeles Community College District, Seat 6, endorsed with 61 percent of members’ votes.
*Melissa Michelson, challenger for City Council, District 5, with 84 percent of members’ votes.
*Chelsea Lee Byers, incumbent Councilmember in , with 71 percent of members’ votes.
In addition, EAPD members officially endorsed on all 7 remaining ballot measures in the City of L.A.
Plus EAPD members endorsed positions on all 11 remaining statewide ballot measures.
