5 MILLION TREES IN ONE DAY — A NATIONWIDE ECOLOGICAL RESTORATION ACTION
February 14, 2026
As part of a nationally coordinated environmental mobilization led by the Green Algeria Association, environmental organizations across the country are uniting to plant 5 million trees in a single day, reinforcing a shared national commitment to ecosystem recovery and climate resilience.
This initiative is implemented across all regions of the country, with each area prioritizing ecologically suitable native species adapted to its climatic, soil, and environmental conditions — ensuring scientifically aligned restoration rather than uniform planting.
The Cedar Tree Association in Batna, as an active environmental organization, is participating in this large-scale operation with a focus on Cedar species, which are ecologically adapted to the region and play a vital role in:
Long-term carbon sequestration
Soil stabilization in vulnerable terrains
Watershed protection
Biodiversity support and habitat formation
Increasing ecosystem resistance to climatic stress
This action reflects a structured, nature-based restoration approach targeting degraded landscapes and strengthening ecological functionality at scale, with the support and engagement of national authorities.
Beyond planting, the initiative promotes site suitability assessment, species–ecosystem compatibility, and long-term stewardship, recognizing that sustainable restoration depends on ecological integrity.
This is not symbolic reforestation — it is strategic environmental infrastructure for national resilience.
