Before you sign for a home in Italy, ask one question: is it sold as piena proprietà, or with a usufrutto attached? 🇺🇸🇮🇹
An Italian property can be registered as full ownership (piena proprietà) or split into nuda proprietà (bare title) and usufrutto (the right to use and enjoy the property). That distinction can affect who lives in the home, who receives the income, and what actually transfers at closing. Ask your agent and the Italian Notaio for the current land-registry status before you commit.
