The most important thing we can do right now is stay calm.
Download the app Watch Duty.
Turn off your gas and water valves. Conserve water. Have tennis shoes, water, your ID’s and your pets ready to go. Wear your Covid masks, the air quality is very bad and harmful to all but especially those with asthma, children and elderly.
If you have large animals like horses or other animals that you can’t evacuate with, here’s some info on where to go:

Keep our firefighters and first responders in your prayers, make it easier for them to help by evacuating.

We’ve been taking care of business, and working overtime!

Public service is about doing what it right and what helps the most people. It may take years to get done, but the benefits and resources brought back to the community make it all worthwhile. Seven years went by fast and I’m so proud of our accomplishments.
There’s a quote from the musical Hamilton that I really like, the question is asked, “Legacy. What is a legacy?” It is, “planting seeds in a garden you’ll never see.” I really felt that when in 2019 I was able to get $50m in the for afterschool programs. It was my first big budget win. Seeing children laugh at school sites brought so much joy to my life. Someone fought for funding for afterschool when I was a child, it was full circle when I did it too.

We’re grateful to our partners and for a wonderful Thanksgiving Turkey distribution in East Los Angeles. It’s a Season of Service and my team and I are always ready to roll up our sleeves. We’re proud of our work with Streets For All and passing state policy that makes it 1) easier and more affordable to build housing 2) gets rids of expensing housing & street design laws that are unnecessary

California lawmakers and the City Council are undoing counterproductive policies requiring developers to widen roads in front of their projects.

Thank you to the California Association of Orthodontists for recognizing me as your Legislator of the Year. I’m very humbled by this recognition and grateful for the opportunity to have worked in partnership to create workforce development opportunities and address issues on Medical reimbursement rates and access to care that ultimately help both children and adults have beautiful smiles. 😁 A smile can go a long way in boosting someone’s confidence! Wishing the new CAO board much success!
