Canada suffered a tragic loss of life in a senseless act of violence yesterday. We have lost many fellow Canadians, including one member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Heidi Stevenson. The victims were mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters from all walks of life. We stand together with their families.

Out of respect for all the victims, we have lowered the flag at the Official Residence to half-mast, and we ask that you please set aside some time today for a moment of silent contemplation to honour the lives lost yesterday.

How Cutting Off U.S.-Canada Trade Will Hurt, Not Help, the Fight Against the Coronavirus

The only way to get through this is together. 🇨🇦&🇺🇸 rely on each other for so much of what we make. Like surgical masks -- the pulp for which comes exclusively from a mill in B.C. And the isotope for sterilizing all those crucial surgical gloves (Ontario). Take it from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce -- we need open trade to fight #COVID19.

The U.S.-Canada trade relationship offers a snapshot of how our international commerce is helping pandemic response in a host of ways.

Homemade hand sanitizers may present health risks - Recalls and safety alerts

Health Canada is warning Canadians about the potential health risks of making and using homemade hand sanitizers, as homemade recipes and products are becoming increasingly common online.

If you have made or used homemade hand sanitizer products, stop using them as the concentration of alcohol in many of these recipes may not be high enough to kill the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

Health Canada does not recommend making your own hand sanitizer, no matter what the recipe is. Even a reputable formula, such as the one recommended by the World Health Organization, it is not appropriate to make the product at home. That recipe is intended for use by licensed producers, which manufacture it in a controlled environment so the final concentration of ingredients is accurate.

Important updates for Canadians returning home (ICYMI)

The Government of Canada continues to introduce border measures to limit the introduction and spread of COVID-19. A new Order will be fully implemented by CBSA at ports of entry by midnight tonight.

All persons entering Canada, by air, sea or land, whether or not they have signs and symptoms of COVID 19, are REQUIRED to self-isolate for 14 days.

There are exemptions in place to ensure that critical infrastructure, essential services and economic supply chains continue between Canada and the U.S.

Those workers that cross the border on a regular basis, such as truck drivers, firefighters and medical workers as well as travellers who enter into Canada to receive essential services will continue to be permitted to enter and will be exempt from the new requirement for mandatory isolation provided they are asymptomatic. They will however, be required to self monitor.

HMMM ? NOW U SEE
Hi! I'm writing to express my frustration on the visa processing process. I'm a Canadian PR but my wife needs visitor visa. We planned a thanksgiving trip from US to Toronto to visit my friends. She got the approval and submitted passport to LA VAC on last Monday, and it got delivered on Wednesday(11/14). Our flight was today(11/21), we knew it was a bit tight on schedule so we tried to contact VAC multiple times to get better understanding of a timeline. However, we got literally ZERO help from call center, and we could not get in touch with anyone who actually handle her case. We sent several emails since last Thursday, but got no response at all so far. We called call center many times, every time they said there's nothing they can do. It seems they don't have any access or comm channel to VAC officers to either expedite or just get a timeline/status. We should've been on the flight to Toronto today if things went smoothly, but she still hadn't have her passport back so we have to cancel our trip. A great opportunity was lost for her to know more about the great city of Toronto. I admit we have to share the blame that we only left 1 week for VAC to stamp the passport, but our frustration also comes from the lack of transparency of the process, as well as the ineffectiveness of any communication channel(call center, email etc.)
Hi I am an Indian citizen and currently working in United States. I applied for Canada's Visitor Visa 50 days back (online application). But the status is still "Submitted". There is no update on the application. Its way past the weekly updated processing time of 11 days. Requested to share the status of the application using web enquiry form almost 25 days back, but did not receive any update on it yet. Can I please know the status of my application? I have planned travel in starting of December 2018 and considering Visa stamping etc will also take time, I am just concerned if I would be able to get my Visa on time. Thanks
