💸 Don’t leave money on the table!

If you worked and earned income in 2025, you may be eligible for the California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) — a refundable state tax credit designed to support working Californians.

✨ Eligible individuals and families may receive up to $3,756 through CalEITC.
Some filers may also qualify for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), which can increase the total amount you receive.

✅ You may qualify for CalEITC if you:
✔️ Earned income from work
✔️ Made about $32,900 or less (amount varies by family size and filing status)
✔️ Lived in California for more than half the year
✔️ File taxes with a Social Security number or an ITIN

When Leticia was told it would cost hundreds of dollars to file two years of tax returns, she began looking for another option.

After contacting the IRS, she learned about Haven Services' FILE4FREE program at Barrio Action—right in her own community. Surprised to discover free tax preparation and additional support services so close to home, she scheduled an appointment and came in with one major concern: she wasn't sure whether she would owe money.

Our team took the time to answer her questions, walk her through the process, and reassure her that regardless of the outcome, support would be available.

By the end of her appointment, Leticia was relieved to learn that she would be receiving refunds for both tax years she filed. More importantly, she discovered a network of resources and people ready to help her navigate other challenges she was facing.

The refunds will help her address an ongoing legal matter involving her pension, and she was connected to additional support available through Barrio Action and Haven Services. What started as a search for affordable tax preparation became a connection to a community that genuinely cares.

At Haven Services and Barrio Action, we believe everyone deserves access to trusted guidance, free services, and support when they need it most.
