Elysian Heights Elementary Arts Magnet

Elysian Heights Elementary Arts Magnet Welcome to Elysian Heights Elementary Arts Magnet! Elysian Heights Elementary serves the communities of Elysian Heights and Greater Echo Park.

Built in 1915, the school is nestled in the Elysian Heights Ravine, and its lush greenery is fed by an underground water source. Elysian Heights Elementary is part of the fascinating history of Elysian Heights and Echo Park. Author Beverly Mason served as principal for many years, and Toshi Ito, the mother of Judge Lance Ito, taught Kindergarten and first grade here at Elysian Heights. Since the e

arly 1900s, Elysian Heights has been home to artist, writers, architects, filmmakers, political radicals and counterculture luminaries. The Children of many of these progressives attended Elysian Heights during the 1930?s, 1940's and 1950's. The neighborhood surrounding Elysian Heights Elementary is also known for architecturally notable and historic homes such as the Paul Landacre House, the Klock House, the Judd-Atwater bunagalows and the Ross House (Al Nozaki, the art famed director who designed the Martian War Machines George Pal's War of the Worlds, lived there during the 1950's and 1960's).

Elysian Heights Arts Festival:
Patterns & Disruption
Saturday, May 4, 12:00 - 4:00PM

Elysian Heights Arts Magnet (EHAM) is proud to host the 3rd Annual Elysian Heights Arts Festival on Saturday, May 4th from 12:00 - 4:00pm in Echo Park.

The annual Elysian Heights Arts Festival is a chance for EHAM's amazing students to share their creations with the Elysian Heights community. The theme of "Patterns and Disruption" serves as a guiding principle throughout the festival, encouraging artists and attendees alike to think of the role of repetition, symmetry, and deviation in art and life. Traditional forms collide with modern interpretations, resulting in a rich tapestry of contrasting ideas and perspectives.

The day is filled with fun arts workshops, student performances, tasty treats, and more, including:

Arts Workshops: Unleash your inner artist as you explore an array of mediums, from clay to acrylic to tie-dye!

Arts Environments: It's not just what you see, it's also what you feel. Festival art installations are immersive experiences designed to awaken the senses and stir the soul.

Student Performances: Witness the stars of tomorrow shine today. Music, dance, and theater performances will grace the main stage throughout the festival.

Food & Drink: Come hungry! Come thirsty! From sandwiches and salads, to sides and agua frescas -- the festival's culinary offerings are sure to tantalize your taste buds.
