Sirens of Silence and LACoFD present a specially painted lifeguard tower at Mother’s Beach in Marina del Ray. This tower represents the message of Sirens of Silence, a new program that promotes Autism Awareness and special care in emergency response situations.

This month, the LACoFD launched its new Sirens of Silence program made up of three components: 1) training, education and information for our first responders; 2) special needs-friendly events; and, 3) sensory-sensitive items on our apparatus, available for patients.

Four year old Jordan and his family, who reside in Valencia, were evacuated yesterday due to the . Today, Jordan and his family, along with all other evacuated residents, are safely back in their homes.
As always, we greatly appreciate our residents who safely evacuated when asked to do so along with all of our partnering agencies for their support on this incident.
Thanks to Jordan’s mom, Ashley, for allowing us the opportunity to stop and chat with Jordan for a few quick minutes today.

We are still proudly celebrating Women's History Month! One way that LA County supports women in our department is through the Women's Fire Prep Academy. This is a great resource for women pursuing a career as a firefighter to learn skills in a supportive, hands on environment with other women.
Today is the 10 year anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. This disaster took many lives and caused extensive damage to towns and homes. LA County Urban Search and Rescue sent members of its USA-2 team to support the rescue and recovery efforts in Japan. Thank you to the members for their amazing service during this tragedy!
All Fire Department personnel are invited to a webinar for the remembrance and reflection of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami on its 10th anniversary. This webinar is hosted by Love to Nippon and will feature distinguished panelists including LA County Fire Chief Daryl Osby. Continuing to celebrate Black History Month, we would like to recognize the LA County Stentorians, an organization of African American firefighters and paramedics who provide support amongst each other, but also to those in the community.
