MPAC expresses profound concern over the recent surge in anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim riots across the United Kingdom. The suspect in the tragic Southport stabbing incident that resulted in the death of three children, and left 12 children and two adults in critical condition, has been misrepresented by extremist misinformation campaigns as a Muslim undocumented immigrant. Rudakubana was born in Wales to Christian Rwandan parents.
This disinformation has incited violent riots, leading to attacks on mosques, assaults on law enforcement, and unchecked violence.

MPAC condemns the deeply troubling actions by those who desecrated monuments and burned the U.S. flag outside of Union Station in Washington, D.C.
The vast majority of protesters have led an effective and peaceful campaign, adhering to the principles of non-violence and using lawful means to advocate for justice. While the circumstances that led to these actions remain unclear, this behavior undermines the movement and alienates supporters of the Pro-Palestinian cause.
Such actions do not represent the millions of Americans who have peacefully expressed their opposition to Israel’s genocide in Gaza. There is absolutely no room for such deplorable behavior in our society.
Throughout American history, various tools— including resistance, advocacy, engagement, and boycott— have been used in the struggle for justice. Creating lasting change requires several of these tactics, as well as collective effort from everyone. MPAC is committed to eliminating injustice and disenfranchisement from within the system. Through our engagement we aim to advance justice in America and reform policies to benefit not just American Muslims, but all Americans. This Independence Day, MPAC recognizes the 12 government officials who resigned in protest of U.S. policy towards Gaza, Israel, and Palestine—choosing to uphold justice over the convenience of silence. Their principled stance embodies the true essence of democracy, fighting against the tyranny imposed by our administration.
The policies put forth by the Biden administration have emboldened the Israeli government to commit genocide against the Palestinian people with little concern of being held accountable for those crimes. The resignation of these 12 officials highlights the profound ethical dilemmas they have faced in their respective positions. They stood up against policies they believed to be morally reprehensible and contrary to international humanitarian laws, risking their careers for the greater good.

🎉 Congratulations to our 2021 CLDP Alum Ammar Ansari for debating at the Oxford Union on the motion 'This House Believes International Climate Policy is Neoimperialist.' Ammar used his platform to address the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the environmental warfare and destruction faced by Palestinians, and called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire.
Ammar recently graduated from the University of Oxford as a fully-funded Rotary Grant Scholar. This month, he begins a fellowship working on climate justice litigation for vulnerable communities.

While Palestinians face daily oppression, our leaders roll out the red carpet for those perpetuating these injustices. It’s time that our elected officials reevaluate their priorities to serve the American people’s interests if they want to seek re-election.
