Englishman in Glasgow moment. 😂

At first glance, I genuinely thought this place was an Indian restaurant.

Then I realised it was actually a tea and coffee shop. ☕🫖

Apparently, if you speak fluent Glaswegian, the name makes what it sells blindingly obvious.

I don’t really go anywhere. 😂

I live in a village just outside Carlisle — you know, basically Scotland. 😅 I haven’t been into the city centre for about three years. I work in the village, so most days my commute is a very strenuous five-minute hop, skip and jump. I online shop, and honestly, leaving the house can feel like a major expedition.

So naturally, on Friday, me and my best friend Stacey — who is recovering from cancer ❤️ — decided to drive 9.5 HOURS to Cardiff to see Billy Joel.

Completely normal behaviour.

Long journey, overnight stay in Bristol, and approximately 74 years spent in the car together. 😂

Highlights included:

Flushed with confidence after surviving this enormous adventure, I even ventured to my local Tesco with my nephew on Saturday.

Couldn’t buy anything, obviously, because my cash card is probably still having the time of its life somewhere along the M6. 😂

Welcome to the wonderfully confusing world of East Midlands Airport. 😂✈️

It’s located in Castle Donington, Leicestershire… but has a Derby postcode (DE74), a Derby telephone number, and is closer to Derby city centre than either Leicester or Nottingham.

Yet, at some point, someone in their infinite wisdom decided it should be called **Nottingham East Midlands Airport**. 🤔

Thankfully, common sense eventually returned and “Nottingham” was quietly removed again.

So it’s in Leicestershire, has Derby details, is closest to Derby… and is called East Midlands Airport.

Perfectly straightforward. 😂

This one is only 5'9", so even some cars and vans can’t make it underneath!

EDIT: The white bar across the top shows the lowest clearance across the full width of the opening — not just the height in the middle of the tunnel.

Living in Dorset, I fairly often use this road “tunnel,” as I did again today.

It’s the perfect place if you want to hear what your V8 sounds like, test how good your horn is, discover exactly where your Honda rev limiter kicks in… or, less excitingly, simply travel north to south through West Dorset. 😂

Anyway, I digress.

Being the only road tunnel in the county — or so I thought — it got me wondering: at what point does a bridge actually become a tunnel?

Apparently, in the UK, the benchmark is 150 metres.

Being slightly dull, I naturally looked this up. I then immediately searched the length of the Beaminster Tunnel and discovered it is only 105 metres.

That’s a whole 45 metres short, which is, scientifically speaking, quite a lot of bananas. 🍌

Everyone I know calls it a tunnel. Even the internet seems perfectly happy calling it a tunnel. But now I know the truth, what am I supposed to do when somebody mentions it?

Do I politely go along with it… or become that person who says, “Actually, technically…”? 😅

And more importantly, what am I supposed to call the “Beaminster Tunnel” now?

I feel genuinely let down to discover that Dorset may not have a proper road tunnel at all. 😂

A slightly random observation from yesterday morning! 😅🚗

I was heading north to work in Basingstoke when I realised the conditions were clear enough that I could actually see London from the M3. 🏙️👀

Looking at the map, it seems to be roughly 50 miles away, so I’m guessing the stretch of road I was on must be fairly elevated compared with London. It was a cool, very still morning with hardly any wind, which probably helped with the visibility.

I’ve made this journey plenty of times and honestly can’t remember ever being able to see London from there before. Pretty impressive considering the distance! 📍🌤️

This is Staines-upon-Thames’ tribute to linoleum — apparently the town has a claim to fame because linoleum was invented there. 🏛️😂

Not exactly the sort of monument that stops you in your tracks, but I have to admit, I quite like how gloriously niche it is.

Please help me settle a very serious workplace conflict. 😂💵

My wife and I run a small diner, and in my 61 years I’ve worked in several retail places. I’ve always seen cash drawers set up with the smaller bills and coins progressing from left to right — lowest denomination to highest.

My wife and the employees are all adamant that the drawer should be organized the opposite way, and for some reason it drives me absolutely nuts. 😅

Here’s the twist: I’m the only left-handed person here. So now I’m wondering… is their setup actually normal, am I the odd one out, or is being left-handed what’s making it feel completely backwards to me? 🤔

And please don’t even get me started on bills not being “faced” the same direction. 😂

First-time poster here! 👋

Today at work we were tearing down an old garage in the backyard of a flip house we recently bought when we stumbled across this old military truck buried beside it. 😳🚛

I honestly know nothing about it other than it shows about 38,000 miles and, surprisingly, seems to have very little rust.

Naturally, being a crew full of guys, every single one of us immediately decided we wanted to take it home. 😂

Does anyone recognize what this is? Any idea what military or country it came from, what year it might be, or anything else about it? I’d love to learn more about what we found.

There are two road tunnels linking Liverpool and the Wirral: the Kingsway Tunnel between Wallasey and Liverpool, and the Queensway Tunnel between Birkenhead and Liverpool.

Inside each tunnel, there are clearly marked lines on the walls showing the boundary between Liverpool and the Wirral, complete with the names and armorial bearings of both areas. 🚗🏙️

Normally, you’re either driving or moving too quickly on public transport to get a decent photo. But thanks to a broken-down lorry and a lot of traffic today, I finally had the chance to snap one. 📸

No banana for scale, unfortunately — I ate it to survive the ordeal. 🍌😂
