LADOT partnered with Curren D. Price, Jr., local residents, and transportation advocates to identify priority intersections that needed immediate safety improvements. As a result of this teamwork, new high-visibility crosswalks have been installed along key stretches of Normandie Ave!

These new crosswalks give drivers an earlier head-up to slow down and create safer routes for neighbors walking around the community.

More safety upgrades in Hollywood! 🚦A new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon is now up and running at Western Ave and Carlton Way, bringing visibility to this busy intersection. When activated by pedestrians, this signal forces drivers to come to a full stop on red, making it easier and safer to cross the corridor!

Safe streets at Highland Park! Last week, LADOT activated a new left turn signal at Figueroa St and Marmion Way to improve traffic flow and boost safety at this busy intersection. By giving drivers a dedicated turn phase, this upgrade reduces risks and creates safer crossing opportunities for pedestrians.

Earlier this year, at the direction of Mayor Karen Bass, LADOT partnered with transportation safety advocates to identify intersections in urgent need of upgrades. As a result of this collaboration, 26 new high-visibility crosswalks are being installed this week alone!

These 26 installations span seven Council Districts on corridors with the highest rates of crashes involving pedestrians, including:
-Winnetka Ave
-Saticoy St
-Normandie Ave
- Venice Blvd
-Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd
-Whittier Blvd
-Pacific Ave

This is just the beginning. LADOT will continue working with advocates to identify even more locations, building on the nearly 1,000 crosswalks installed, upgraded, and maintained across Los Angeles every year.

New bike lanes are now installed on Terra Bella St in the San Fernando Valley! 🚲 These 2.5-mile bike lanes between Wakefield Ave and San Fernando Rd replace the previous lanes on Van Nuys Blvd, which were removed to make way for the upcoming East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project.

This update keeps the neighborhood moving safely by calming local traffic, improving pedestrian visibility with restriped crosswalks, and providing a new bicycle direction to the existing San Fernando Bike Path.
